EQS-News: DN Deutsche Nachhaltigkeit AG
/ Key word(s): Investment
DN Deutsche Nachhaltigkeit invests in the impact company Save the Water Holding AG / Production of the water-free hand sanitizer SOAPEYA Frankfurt am Main, June 4, 2025 – DN Deutsche Nachhaltigkeit AG (ISIN DE000A3DW408, "Deutsche Nachhaltigkeit") is further expanding its portfolio and has acquired a 9.5% stake in Save the Water Holding AG as part of a cash capital increase. The impact company is developing a hand sanitizer under the brand name "SOAPEYA" that ensures full hygienic effectiveness without the use of water. Unlike disinfectant products or other hygiene products, SOAPEYA is chemical-free, fully biodegradable, and made from 100% sustainable ingredients. SOAPEYA is particularly suitable for use in regions with water scarcity and drought, where infections can spread more rapidly due to poor hygiene. According to a recent UNICEF report, around 4 billion people worldwide lack access to sanitation and washing facilities. The consequences are inadequate hygiene and the spread of infections and serious diseases. The WHO estimates that 1.4 million deaths worldwide each year could be prevented through proper hand hygiene. At the same time, 12 billion liters of drinking water are used annually for handwashing alone – especially in industrialized nations. Together with the consumption of warm water, soap, and appropriate drying options, handwashing generates around 4.2 gigatons of CO2 per year. SOAPEYA's innovative product addresses precisely these global challenges. The product will initially be launched primarily in collaboration with NGOs and larger health organizations. As a new investment by Deutsche Nachhaltigkeit, Save the Water has undergone a corresponding impact investment process. With an ESG score of 51 points, the company achieved an above-average positive result. Ole Nixdorff, CEO of Deutsche Nachhaltigkeit: "With our investment in Save the Water Holding AG, we can add a significant impact company to our portfolio. Water scarcity and poor hand hygiene are a fundamental problem in many regions of the world, leading to considerable suffering and, in the worst case, death. With the innovative product SOAPEYA, Save the Water can contribute to solving this serious global problem. The company thus has a direct positive impact on the environment and society."
