Berlin, 15 May 2025: HMS Bergbau AG (ISIN: DE0006061104, WKN: 606110), a leading independent commodity trading and marketing company based in Germany, reports a very successful fiscal year 2024. The company continued to significantly increase its sales and achieve disproportionately high earnings growth. In addition, HMS Bergbau AG made important strategic decisions for its growth in 2024. Among other measures, an extensive credit line in the lower three-digit million USD range was concluded with Vietcombank, one of the largest banks in Vietnam, during the reporting period. HMS Bergbau AG currently has a credit facility of around USD 400 million in trade finance lines, which are primarily used for the long-term financing of its trading business. The high demand for coal is driven in particular by emerging and developing countries. India alone is expected to consume more than twice as much coal as the US and the EU combined in 2025.

The excellent operational performance is also reflected in the strong financial figures published today in the 2024 Annual Report. EBITDA rose significantly by 28.1 percent from EUR 15.7 million to around EUR 20.1 million in accordance with HGB accounting standards. This means that EBITDA exceeded the preliminary figure of EUR 19.0 million reported in the preliminary figures (see corporate news dated January 29, 2025) by more than EUR 1 million. Sales rose by 5.2 percent from EUR 1.30 billion to around EUR 1.36 billion in the period from January to December. Net income for the year ended 31 December 2024, amounted to around EUR 13.25 million, 6.5 percent more than in the previous year (EUR 12.44 million).

Despite an uncertain geopolitical environment, HMS Bergbau AG remains optimistic for the current fiscal year 2025 and beyond. For 2025, the company expects sales of around EUR 1.5 billion. EBITDA is forecast to remain stable at around EUR 20 million. The gross margin is also expected to remain at the previous year’s level of around 3 percent.
